Inspiring Entrepreneur Success Story: Deadhead Productions and The Farm
Today we will be sharing a remarkable entrepreneur success story featuring Deadhead Productions and The Farm. They hosted “Gus” the Tembo Adventure Bus this past week, and we can only imagine how epic our RV site would be during a live event!
In 2015, Entrepreneur Jon Walker turned 160 acres of farmland located about 9 miles outside of the historic Victorian town of Eureka Springs, Arkansas into an awesome music and event site. In early September of that year, Pipeline Productions released a statement to inform people that they were cancelling the Phases of the Moon Music & Art Festival because of unforeseen closure of the main road leading to the festival site.
Within hours of the Phases Festival cancellation, Jon created a Facebook page for Hillberry 2: Harvest Moon Festival. His page immediately generated traction + on the same day, more than a thousand people showed interest in attending. On Monday, Sept. 14, Walker announced the full lineup for the festival, which featured 13 acts that were originally part of the Phases of the Moon lineup.
“There was a lot of opportunity to pick a lot of the acts that had been routed here. A lot of these acts were coming at me because they wanted to play in this area. So that was pretty cool.” – Walker
Walker saw an opportunity and quickly acted on it, which is a great example of the entrepreneurial mindset live in action. Entrepreneurs: don’t give up + think outside the box regardless of what opportunity comes your way!
It was because of the great success in this first event that Walker has hosted a multitude of events on the land with his friends over the past eight years + Deadhead Productions came to be. Deadhead has hosted several smaller festivals, which included the Hillberry Bluegrass Music Festival that happened in August. Walker tries to organize three festivals per year but the unexpected Hillberry 2 is his fourth production this year.
